As a photographer for @nowilaymedowntosleep, I’ve been photographing silent babies.

The last time I saw the @darrenolsen and @veggiemao was the day Baby Christopher was born. (Image 2)

He did not get a chance to cry.

I can only imagine how deafeningly painful the silence was.

Fast forward a year later, I’m shedding little tears of joy as I reflect on photographing a crying Baby Lily; that I get to watch them beam with happiness as they cajole her with such gentleness.

I appreciate being able to witness moments like this. This, is why I do what I do.

Joan Leong is a media professional who has been telling stories through pictures - stills or moving frames - since she first picked up a camera almost two decades ago. When not capturing moments, she can be found working out a sweat in the gym or whipping up a storm in the kitchen.
